Top official of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) revealed, The Morodok Techo National Stadium would host international football matches once it is completed.
NOCC Secretary-General Vath Chamroeun said local and international football matches would be among many sports activities that will be held at the new stadium from 2021 onwards.
Construction of the new stadium is 85 percent complete and is scheduled to be finished by May 2021. This spacious new stadium will make it most ideal location in Cambodia for international football matches. It can accommodate more than 75,000 people.
The Kingdom also a participant in several upcoming tournaments organized by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) and Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
According to Chamroeun, the new stadium will also be used for annual championships for various sports federations. The Morodok Techo National Stadium complex is based on international standard, which comprises running track, swimming centre, badminton, and table tennis hall, gymnastics and traditional sports hall, and others.
It will host most of the major events in 2023 SEA Games, including the opening and closing ceremonies.
