For those of you who had not yet heard about us, we are Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh, a brand new member of Shrewsbury School UK’s prestigious group of international schools that also includes schools in Bangkok and Hong Kong. Our goal in coming to Phnom Penh is to provide both local and expat children with a premium education from age 2 to age 18, and to take Cambodian education to the next level.
Our main campus, which will house our primary and secondary school provisions, will open on a large site at the edge of the city in 2024 or 2025. Our Early Years school (ages 2 to 5), however, will open this September right here inside of Meridian’s Flatiron building. With its central location, impressive facilities, and safe environment, Flatiron is the perfect location for our Pre-Nursery, Nursery, and Reception classes.

An additional advantage of being based at Flatiron is that we can host events in the same building as the school. On Friday 29 and Saturday 30 April, we hosted groups of prospective parents and other guests interested in our school at the Function Rooms on the 28th floor of the building. These events were the first occasions on which Toby Waterson, our Founding Principal, was able to join us in person.
After some welcoming remarks by Charles Wong, our Co-Founder and CEO, Toby gave a series of presentations in which he introduced himself and laid out his vision for Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh. He also spoke about Life at Shrewsbury, Shrewsbury’s educational ethos, and our future boarding provisions, and sketched an outline.
