The Royal Government of Cambodia aims to turn the country into a hub for the production of auto and electronic components as part of economic diversification and economic recovery in the aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis.
This vision is set out in a draft roadmap for the development of the automotive and electronics sectors in Cambodia, which is being discussed and collected for additional input.
Speaking at a meeting in July, HE. Sok Chendasophea, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, Secretary-General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, said that the Royal Government has identified the automotive and electronics sectors as potential priorities for participation in regional and global value chains, as well as promoting economic diversification.
The collected input will serve as a stronger basis for revising the draft roadmap in a more comprehensive in transforming the country into a vehicle and electronics component production hub to expand the export of its market in the region and globally.
