YOUTH'S ATTITUDES TO VALENTINES' DAY HAS CHANGED AFTER YEARS OF EDUCATION 

Cambodian youths’ attitudes towards Valentines’ Day changing year-to-year from love affairs to a day of sharing love with family members, relatives, teachers and friends due to being educate by the the relevant authorities.

Valentine’s Day is not a facet of Cambodia culture, however, its popularity 10 years ago among the youth centered on sex and today the youth understand how this miscreant behaviour is not a facet of traditional Khmer culture.

INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS PUT ON THE TABLE DURING PM'S CHINA VISIT 

Prime Minister Hun Sen has asked Chinese companies to look into building a high-speed rail system in Phnom Penh and an expressway linking the capital to the new Techo International Airport, which he proposed be “light” in nature, according to a statement.

The request came during a meeting with representatives from three major Chinese investment companies – namely China Road and Bridge Corp (CRBC), Beijing Urban Construction Group Co Ltd (BUCG) and “China Metro Group Ltd” – on his February 9-11 visit to China.

JAPAN FIRM CHOOSES BATTAMBANG FOR CASHEW NUT SHELL FUEL PROJECT

Japanese firm Top Planning Japan Co Ltd’s (TPJ) apparently interested in investing facilities in Battambang province to convert cashew nut shells into fuel and process the fiber-rich seeds for export. It has been attracting among local authorities and has dramatically heightened prospects for commodity that is predominantly shipped to Vietnam in raw form.

TPJ boss Tetsuo Murayama touched on these tentative plans at a meeting with Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) director-general Heng Ratana at CMAC headquarters on February 8.

EUROPEAN FILM FESTIVAL CAMBODIA 2023 BRINGS MORE FILMS AND EVENTS

This year, EU is organising 2023 European Film Festival in Cambodia (EUFF23) at four locations across Phnom Penh. The festival will kick off with a screening of Ukrainian drama “Mother of Apostles” on February 17 at the French Institute of Cambodia (IFC).

“This year we have increased the number of films feature to 26 and added two short film events and more side events, including a roundtable discussion with Cambodian and European filmmakers on February 14,” according to a statement by the EU delegation to Cambodia, which sponsors the festival.
