PM HUN SEN: MULTILATERAL TRADE VITAL FOR GLOBAL GROWTH

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen emphasis on strengthening globalization and multilateral trade are crucial to support global economic growth and reducing poverty during the Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit, co-hosted by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates.

FIRST INTERNATIONAL AVIATION TRAINING OPENS IN CAMBODIA 

International aviation training is now available in Cambodia, the airlines personnel and cargo operators no longer require to travel to Singapore and Thailand for the training. 

American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP) is the Accredited Training School (ATS), certified by the International Aviation Training Association (IATA) and State Secretariat of Civil Aviation. 

Executive director of the Center for Leadership and Professional Development, Dr. Alan Wark released that achieving IATA ATS status was possible through mutual cooperation and support from IATA and SSCA for dangerous goods initial or recurrent training. The ATS at AUPP provides greater access for international level aviation training at a substantial cost savings to Cambodian air industries.

UN LAUDS CAMBODIA FOR RESPONSIBLE RESTART OF TOURISM  

The UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) secretary-general Zurab Pololikashvili commended Cambodian government for putting in place effective measures to contain the Covid-19 pandemic while resuming its domestic tourism.

According to source, Pololikashivili wrote a letter to Prime Minister Hun Sen by thanking the kingdom for its active involvement in UNWTO’s activities during the pandemic. He had complimented recent replacement of Khmer New Year holiday had contributed to facilitate a safe and responsible restart of tourism in the country.

CHINA & CAMBODIA REACH FREE TRADE AGREEMENT

The PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Service Corporation (PV Drilling)’s rig PV Drilling III will implement its contract to drill five new wells for Kris Energy in Cambodia for three months, starting from October.

Cambodia’s oil and gas industry was given another boost after KrisEnergy released a statement  stating that construction of the minimum facilities wellhead platform (“mini-platform”) for the Apsara oil development offshore Cambodia Block A is completed and the topsides and jacket are being transported from Gulf of Thailand to Cambodian waters for installation.

SHE LOVES TECH COMPETITION 2020

She Loves Tech's Annual Global Startup Competition is the world's largest startup competition for women and technology. The competition, together with its conference, has continuously expanded its reach over the last 5 years. Alumni startups from previous years have gone on to raise over US$100 million in aggregate funding from some of the world's top investors, including Sequoia Capital, Vertex Ventures, Wavemaker, Microsoft and Amazon. 

This year marks the competition's 6th year, and in spite of the global pandemic, the competition will expand yet again due to overwhelming response. It will be the first time the Global Startup Competition Series takes place in Cambodia on October 9, 2020.

CAMBODIA TO HOST SEA GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN 2021

Cambodia will host a general assembly of the Seas of East Asia (SEA) and the 7th Ministerial Forum for Partnerships in Environmental Management for SEA next year which announced by Eang Sophalleth, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Environment.

The event will be taking place from Dec. 1 to 4, 2021 at Preah Sihanouk province, under the presidency of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

$44 MILLION INTERNATIONAL STANDARD GARDEN CITY WATER PARK OPENS TO THE PUBLIC

According to the statement of President of LYP Group Ly Yong Phat, the Garden City Water Park is now open to the public amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

It is located at Prek Tasek commune in Chroy Changvar, a district approx 16 km north of Phnom Penh. The park is built on 8.6 hectares of land with 2.4 hectares of parking spaces and the rest is used by the park itself.

LYP Group has made a total investment of $44 million to build the park and it is the biggest water park in Cambodia. It is located in the Garden City, where the LYP Group operates the Phnom Penh Safari worth of USD 10 million since 2018.
