ASIA-PACIFIC CLOSES IN ON WORLD'S BIGGEST TRADE DEAL 

China and 14 other countries agreed to set up the world’s largest trading bloc, encompassing nearly a third of all economic activity, in a deal many in Asia are hoping will help hasten a recovery from the shocks of the pandemic.

The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, or RCEP, was began negotiations in 2012 and was finally signed recently on the sidelines of a meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean). 

It is the world's largest free trade agreement, covering nearly a third of the global population and about 30% of its global gross domestic product.

CAMBODIA OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES DIGITAL CURRENCY BY CENTRAL BANK  

The National Bank of Cambodia has officially launched its retail central bank digital currency (CBDC) named Project Bakong, co-developed by Japanese fintech company SORAMITSU. The central bank is the first in South East Asia to do so.

Bakong is a multi-stakeholder system that enables instant and final transactions using digital Cambodian Riel (KHR) or United States Dollars (USD).

COLOR WHEEL GROUP CROWNED NO. 1 IN 7TH CAMBODIA DigiCon6 CONTEST

“Today for Tomorrow” of Color Wheel Group was selected the best animation during the 7th Cambodia DigiCon6, held at the National Television of Kampuchea (TVK)’s studio.

Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith and his spouse presided over the event and awarded the first winner with a cup and 1.6 million Riel (about US$400).

The winning group will represent Cambodia to compete in the DigiCon6 Asia to be organized by TBS Japan in Tokyo, Japan later this year.

A university student says definitely but this requires time management

Many university students in Cambodia today work while studying as they wish to get first-hand work experience. Hout Song, who is a senior student from Royal University of Phnom Penh - Department of International Studies. He shares his personal experience and challenges during an interview session:

 

Interviewer: What are the biggest challenges you face while working and studying?

Hout Song: Most challenging problems are team members’ procrastination, many assignments given by the lecturers, insufficient sources/data for the topic, and lack of teamwork.

EXPORTS RISEN FOR CAMBODIAN GOODS

Ministry of Economy and Finance had reported that Cambodia exported USD 14.1 billion worth of goods in the first nine months of this year, up 20.07 per cent from the same period last year, despite Covid-19’s situation.

The exportation mainly from rice, bicycles, electrical appliances and agricultural products such as legumes, cashew nuts and bananas.

Cambodian Rice Federation (CRF) secretary-general Lun Yeng said milled-rice shipments generates USD328 million in the month of January until September 24% in total. He expressed optimistic that the Kingdom’s milled rice exports would remain on a strong growth trajectory until end of the year, despite pandemic.

HOW OFFICE LIGHTING AFFECTS PRODUCTIVITY

There are certain factors that everyone knows will affect workplace productivity, but there is one important factor often overlooked by most employers across the globe: lighting. Certainly, it is common knowledge that reading in the dark will harm your eyes, but lighting has effects well beyond that, and an employer’s choice of lighting can have a significant impact on the productivity of the company.

A study conducted by the American Society of Interior Design indicated that 68 percent of employees complain about lighting issue in their offices. Two most common scenarios for poor office lighting are lights that are too dim and lights that are too harsh.

FLATIRON BY MERIDIAN LEASING SPREE ON COMMERCIAL OFFICE

This is a simple dessert, made from two most common Khmer ingredients, i.e. rice and palm sugar. There is another version that has an oblong shape and is filled with sweet palm sugar.
 

Ingredients

2 cups sticky rice flour
1/2 cup coconut milk
1 pinch salt
4 pieces palm sugar, broken up into small pieces
10 gr grated coconut (garnish)
